Service & Experience
Len Kreger, a resident of the City of Fernandina Beach for 18 years, is a retired U.S. Marine with 24 years of service including 19 months in combat in Vietnam. Additional experience includes 30 years' experience in facility and construction management in both the Public and Private sectors. Len served two terms on the Fernandina Beach City commission, terming out in 2022, and served six years on the Fernandina Beach Planning Advisory Board.
Awards & Community Leadership
He was awarded the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Leader of the Year Award in 2017 and served as the Executive Director of Keep Nassau Beautiful in 2014-5. Len has been active in volunteer efforts, which includes being named the Fernandina Beach Volunteer of the Year in 2013. These included the Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch, and America’s Youth Inc.
Regional & Local Boards
Additional experience includes five years on the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council, the Sustainable Fernandina Committee, Nassau County Code Enforcement Board, and the Nassau County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. He is presently on the Fernandina Beach Board of Adjustment and is a Director for the nonprofit Affordable Housing First Corp.
Purpose
Len has decided to seek a return to the City Commission, as he believes he can provide objective, proven leadership and management skills. In the seven years he served on the City Commission, he was able to effectively balance growth, considering both property rights along with conservation and he has a special passion for protecting Quality of Life. He is also a strong advocate of maintaining and upgrading infrastructure requirements.

2015 - 2022: City Commissioner
Served the City of Fernandina Beach with a focus on fiscal responsibility and infrastructure improvements.
2009 - 2015: Planning Board Member
Contributed to long-term sustainable growth patterns across the community including supporting the importance of 1.03.05 which says that multiple dwelling units cannot be built on combined lots without first securing a variance from the Board of Adjustments.
1980 - 2004: US Marine Corps Service
